how fat freezing works

Cryolipolyisis, more commonly known as “fat freezing”, is an FDA-approved treatment that uses cooling technology to reduce unwanted body fat cells below the skin surface without injuring the skin or surrounding tissues. Before the treatment starts, a specific cryoprotection cloth will be applied to the desired area, followed by a cold vacuum applicator placed on the desired body zone. The fat is then controlled for 45 minutes at -5 degrees Celsius. During the treatment, the extreme cold from the vacuum freezes the fat cells, triggering apoptosis (cell death) by crystallising them. Over the following 12 weeks, your body will naturally dispose of the crystallised fat as waste and the fat cells wipermanently destroy it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at info@advancedbodyaesthetics.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

The procedure takes 45 minutes once the vacuum device is placed. I would recommend given yourself 1 hour for set up and finish.

Due to the initiation of the vacuum cup and extreme cold, there is some mild, temporary discomfort. You may experience pulling, pinching, and tingling sensations, which tend to subside after the first 10 minutes, and the area becomes more comfortable.

As the process is non-invasive, it is very low risk; however, in some circumstances, the following temporary side effects may arise:

  • Numbness
  • Bruising
  • Slight swelling
  • Localised hardening of the skin
  • Touch sensitivity
  • Slight to more pronounced redness

  • Fat-freezing procedures is designed for those with unwanted fat in targeted areas. Unlike weight loss surgery (e.g., gastric bypass), cryolipolysis is not a weight loss solution for obese people. Good candidates are those who have noticeable stubborn areas of fat that exercise and diet have failed to shift on their own.

  • Once the fat cells are crystallised (frozen) in the targeted area, they are permanently destroyed. Over the next 12 weeks, they are naturally processed and eliminated through the body as waste.

Fat freezing is not suitable for everyone. You should not have fat freezing if you have:

  • Liver or kidney problems
  • heart or lung conditions (Silicosis, other respiratory disorders, pacemakers )
  • Suffers of physiological hypotonic
  • Cardiovascular or cerebral diseases
  • systemic immune system diseases
  • Hypoproteinaemia
  • Frostbite Intolerance
  • Blood clotting disorders
  • Umbilical hernias or weak stomach muscles
  • Severe diabetes
  • Post-invasive surgery (within 12 months)
  • Pregnancy & immediately after birth
  • Persons with metal plates or joint implants in the treatment area
